Damaged in the Second World War and demolished in 1950, the building's exterior was rebuilt between 2013 and 2020, recreating the Baroque façades and dome largely shaped by Andreas Schlüter. Today it houses the Humboldt Forum, which displays collections including the Ethnological Museum and the Museum of Asian Art.
