To make a day of it

Abschnittsbefestigung Puch stands in Fürstenfeldbruck (Landkreis Fürstenfeldbruck), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.

The Abschnittsbefestigung Puch is a small earthwork fortification located about 850 meters south-southwest of St. Sebastian's church in Puch, a district of Fürstenfeldbruck in Upper Bavaria. No written source documents its exact origin, but its features suggest one of the many small early medieval village refuge forts built in this region, often raised during the Hungarian invasions of the early 10th century. Two nearly right-angled ditches enclose an interior space of roughly 70 by 110 meters, set on a terrace edge about ten to fifteen meters above the surrounding plain. The site has been covered with young forest since around the year 2000, making it hard to walk through, though a farm track cuts across the rampart system and offers glimpses of it.
