What the French Ministry of Culture records

La plus ancienne mention du château remonte au siège de 672 par le roi de Tolède. L'édifice a été choisi par les rois de Majorque comme résidence d'été. Autour des vestiges s'étendant du 13e au 17e siècle se sont développées les fortifications plus récentes.
