At the place known as Le Plessis, roughly 1200 metres southwest of the village of Cosmes in Mayenne, once stood a château that has since given way to a working farm. For several centuries the site was home to the Le Cornu family, including Pierre Le Cornu, governor of Craon and a committed member of the Catholic League, before the estate passed to the des Haies de Cry family and later owners up to the Revolution. What remains includes a much reduced seigneurial mound, a former chapel long used as a barn, and a carved tuffeau coat of arms set into a farm building.
