What the French Ministry of Culture records

L'appellation du domaine provient de l'existence, au 17e siècle, d'un "martinet", usine à forger le cuivre. Cette grange à abside, construite en 1670, représenterait le dernier exemple d'un type de bâtiment agricole qui était fréquent dans cette région de l'Auvergne jusqu'à la Révolution. La grange est située au-dessus de l'étable pour faciliter l'alimentation du bétail et pour assurer la longue stabulation d'hiver. Un appentis, dit "védelat", d'époque plus récente, lui a été accolé au sud-ouest. Composé d'éléments disparates des 18e et 19e siècles, le château présente moins d'intérêt. Le parc a été refait au milieu du 19e siècle.
