The château du Jard in Voisenon stands on the site of a royal abbey founded in the 12th century and moved here in the early 13th century at the request of Queen Alix of Champagne. Of this once richly decorated monastic complex, only the facade of a conventual building in brick and stone, built in the Louis XIII style, remains as part of today's château. The surrounding 45 hectare park holds an 18th century underground ice house that has survived intact.
