What the French Ministry of Culture records

A l'emplacement de l'édifice actuel se trouvait un château féodal construit en 1200. Le château actuel a sans doute été construit vers 1619. La sécurité revenue après les guerres de Religion permet la construction, en pleine campagne, de demeures non fortifiées inspirées des hôtels citadins, avec une distribution intérieure en enfilade. L'édifice se présente comme une chartreuse en rez-de-chaussée, de style Louis XIII, complétée par deux ailes de communs en équerre, de même style mais plus basses. La distribution intérieure est restée la même depuis le 17e siècle, excepté un grand salon redivisé en trois pièces avant la Révolution. Les plafonds à la française ont disparu au 19e siècle. L'intérieur conserve deux cheminées, l'une de style Empire, l'autre d'époque Louis XIV. Le décor extérieur se compose d'une rangée d'oculi surmontant la rangée de fenêtres et d'une porte décorée d'un arc en pierre ornée de boules.
