The Château du Fort stands in Bel-Air-Val-d'Ance, in the Lozère department, and ranks among the few surviving 14th century castles in the northern part of the region. Its nearly square plan, three storeys and machicolated wall walk have survived with little alteration over the centuries. The south facade, flanked by two round towers, and the 17th century additions on the north side, with their corbelled turrets, form a coherent architectural whole despite being built in different periods.
