What the French Ministry of Culture records

Les ruines du château - quelques restes d'enceinte et deux tours carrées datent l'une du 13e et l'autre du 15e siècle. Le logis, rebâti au 19e siècle dans un style néo-médiévale, est acquis en 1943 par le peintre et tapissier Jean Lurçat qui y installe son atelier en décorant les murs, les plafonds et les menuiseries des portes et des fenêtres. L'ensemble conserve de nombreuses oeuvres de l'artiste, tapisseries, peintures et céramiques réalisés entre 1943 et sa mort en 1966. Le logis et l'ensemble du mobilier ont été donnés au département par la veuve de l'artiste.
