To make a day of it

Château des Salles stands in Sainte-Brigitte (Morbihan), in the Bretagne region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

On the shore of the Salles pond, in the commune of Sainte-Brigitte, stand the ruins of a castle whose origins trace back to a medieval stronghold documented as early as the 12th century. The site, cradle of the Rohan family's lordship, went through several phases of use: forges and mills in the Middle Ages, a Protestant chapel in the 17th century, then dwellings and a bread oven in the 19th century. What remains today is mainly the former residential wing, built of rubble stone and cut schist, still recognisable by its long rectangular shape.
