To make a day of it

Château des Montgommery stands in Ducey (Manche), in the Normandie region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 17th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

In Ducey, in the Manche department, the Montgommery castle preserves part of a 17th-century residence built by Gabriel II de Montgommery, son of the man who unintentionally caused the death of King Henri II. The surviving building, much smaller than the original project, has a central wing flanked by a terrace with a balcony and columns topped with Corinthian-style capitals. Inside, visitors can still see a double-revolution staircase, carved beam ceilings and a 17th-century fireplace.
