The château de Wargemont, in Petit-Caux, Seine-Maritime, owes its reputation to the summer of 1879, when owner Paul Bérard first invited Pierre-Auguste Renoir to stay. The painter returned there regularly until the end of the century, producing interior scenes, portraits of children and views of the rose garden that now hang in major museums worldwide. Built in the second half of the 18th century and later altered in the 19th, the house still holds a dining room decorated with two panels painted by Renoir, the Chasse d'Été and the Chasse d'Automne. The estate remains privately owned, which strongly limits what can actually be visited.
