To make a day of it

Château de Verrières-le-Buisson stands in Verrières-le-Buisson (Essonne), in the Île-de-France region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument. The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

The château Vilmorin, in Verrières-le-Buisson, conceals behind its altered facades a core building dating from the 17th century, enlarged by a succession of owners up to the 20th century. The estate is chiefly associated with the Lévêque de Vilmorin family, who acquired it in 1815 and carried out botanical research there of international renown, as well as with Louise de Vilmorin, who lived and died there, and André Malraux, who later resided there until his death. The surrounding park of several hectares, now an arboretum, remains one of the site's main draws.
