To make a day of it

Château de Terride stands in Mirepoix (Ariège), in the Occitanie region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument. The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

On a hill north of Mirepoix, in the Ariège department, the ruins of the château de Terride crown a site occupied since the 10th century. The place was once known as the château de Mirepoix before taking the name Terride in the 16th century, following a marriage within the Lévis family. Visitors reach the site via a three-arched bridge dating from 1662, spanning a former moat and leading to the remains of a rectangular tower and several curtain-wall towers. The site, which is privately owned, has undergone extensive restoration work, including two 15th-century fireplaces preserved in the square tower.
