Ensemble unique en France avec ses deux sites industriels (usine du 18e siècle avec son martinet et usine actuelle, de 1813, modifiée aux 19e et 20e siècles avec un laminoir datant de années 1900-1905, toujours en activité) , ses deux types de logements patronaux et ses logements ouvriers. Site ayant toujours fonctionné et utilisant encore l'eau. Le martinet, de la première moitié du 18e siècle, a gardé son apparence malgré l'évolution de l'affectation. Avec cet équipement et le savoir-faire de ses ouvriers, les forges demeurent économiquement viables dans le domaine très compétitif de la mise en forme des aciers spéciaux. L'ensemble de production est complété par deux logis patronaux. Le premier, dit ancien château, de la première moitié du 18e siècle, a été transformé entre 1815 et 1821 par l'architecte bisontin Denis-Philibert Lapret. Le deuxième logement patronal ou villa palladienne (château Carnot) a été construit par l'architecte Champonnois l'Aîné entre 1827 et 1830 pour Emmanuel Jobez, député du Jura. E. Jobez et son beau-frère édifient la nouvelle usine en 1813 et agrandissent l'ancienne demeure patronale. Parc remodelé vers 1850.
