To make a day of it

Château de Senonnes stands in Senonnes (Mayenne), in the Pays de la Loire region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument. The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

In the village of Senonnes, in the Mayenne region, stands a château built of local slate schist, its dark and massive outline having gone through the centuries with little architectural embellishment. The building still bears heraldic decoration linked to Adrienne de Salles, a 17th century lady of the manor, and in the south west corner of its courtyard two tiers of openings remain the most elaborate part of the construction. An isolated tower, a remnant of the former surrounding wall, recalls a defensive system that no longer exists.
