Château de Saint-Georges-Motel stands in Saint-Georges-Motel (Eure), in the Normandie region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 17th century, 19th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.
Built in the early seventeenth century from brick and stone, the château de Saint-Georges-Motel stands mirrored in the moat surrounding it, in the Normandy commune that bears its name. The grounds owe their layout to a park designed by André Le Nôtre, later reworked in the nineteenth century by Louis-Sulpice Varé, the landscaper behind the Bois de Boulogne. Its more recent history is notable too: restored between the two world wars by its owners, it hosted Winston Churchill and his family during several summer stays.
