What the French Ministry of Culture records

Les premières mentions du château apparaissent au 13ème siècle. Il n’en subsiste, aujourd’hui, qu’une massive tour résidentielle, de plan circulaire, arasée au début du 17ème siècle. Cette construction est conservée sur deux niveaux d’élévation : une salle basse et un étage voûté d’ogives. Des traces de peintures murales (faux appareil polychrome) sont visibles sur l’ébrasement d’une des baies éclairant l’intérieur. L’angle sud de la terrasse inférieure est flanquée d’une tour arasée, appelée La Sellette, équipée de deux cannonières hautes et datées de la seconde moitié du 16ème siècle, voire début du 17ème siècle.
