What the French Ministry of Culture records

Le château appartint au 13e siècle à la famille de Bruniquel, puis à celle de Latour au 16e siècle. Le château primitif ayant été détruit par le duc de Vendôme peu après 1622, l'édifice actuel fut reconstruit après cette date sur ses anciennes fondations. Malgré l'allure féodale de ses trois tours, le château est une gentilhommière Louis XIII avec quelques remaniements du 18e siècle. La construction est en briques foraines apparentes avec quelques éléments décoratifs en pierre. La chapelle gothique a été remaniée au 19e siècle.
