To make a day of it

Château de Puits stands in Puits (Côte-d'Or), in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 15th century, 17th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

The château de Puits stands above the village of the same name, in the Côte-d'Or, on a small rise between the two halves of the town. The complex combines a 15th century gatehouse, a remnant of the stronghold first recorded in 1239, with a Renaissance-style residential wing built in the 17th century. The fortified gate still bears its overhanging watch-turret pierced with gun loops and its adjoining tower-house, while part of the buildings now serves as the village town hall.
