What the French Ministry of Culture records

Situé dans la partie haute du village, le château est ceint par un mur d'enceinte fortifié qui suit les irrégularités du relief. Deux portes ont été aménagées dans ce mur au 17e siècle. Le château se compose de quatre corps de bâtiments enfermant une cour intérieure rectangulaire. Deux portes munies d'archères en permettent l'accès. Elles étaient autrefois protégées par un pont-levis. Deux tours flanquent le château, une rectangulaire au nord et une semi-circulaire au sud. A l'est, faisant corps avec le château, se trouve la chapelle du 12e siècle dont le chevet semble avoir été exhaussé au 14e siècle pour faire office de tour. La porte et quelques baies de cette église romane ont reçu une décoration polychrome par incrustation de basalte.
