To make a day of it

Château de Peiresc stands in Belgentier (Var), in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: first half of the 17th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Located in Belgentier, in the Var department, this early 17th-century residence was home to Nicolas-Claude Fabri de Peiresc, a scholar and astronomer who set up a rooftop observatory to study the sky, including the Orion Nebula and the moons of Jupiter. Regarded as one of the earliest classical Provençal bastides, it retains from that period an entrance hall and a staircase decorated with plasterwork. The building, its lower wing and its garden with hydraulic features are now protected as a historic monument.
