To make a day of it

Château de Nogent-en-Bassigny stands in Nogent (Haute-Marne), in the Grand Est region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

The château de Nogent-en-Bassigny, also known as château de Nogent-le-Roi, stands in ruins on a rocky plateau overlooking the Traire valley in the Haute-Marne department. This former medieval stronghold changed hands repeatedly through sieges and conquests before falling into disrepair and collapsing by the end of the 17th century. Only a corner tower remains today, rebuilt in the 19th century and long mistakenly called the keep. The site is of interest mainly for its feudal history and its strategic position along an old Roman road.
