On a hilltop overlooking the Pichauris valley, northeast of Allauch, the ruins of the château de Ners stand in an isolated spot above the Jarret stream. Also known as Castèu-Vièi, the site carries the nickname château de la reine Jeanne, a local tradition with no documented basis. Two square towers, sections of wall and the remains of what may have been a church dedicated to Saint Stephen still survive from this fortified complex, originally built to enforce a toll right.
