Château de Mortagne-sur-Sèvre stands in Mortagne-sur-Sèvre (Vendée), in the Pays de la Loire region of France. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Perched on a rocky spur above the Sèvre nantaise river, the ruins of the château de Mortagne-sur-Sèvre bear witness to a medieval stronghold built in the 14th century, fought over during the Hundred Years' War. The Trésor tower and the spur-shaped tower, known as the Tower of the English, still stand, the latter reinforced for artillery in the late 16th century. A manor house was added within the old enclosure in the early 20th century, tucked between the ramparts and this tower.
