What the French Ministry of Culture records
Très important château tenu au 14e siècle par Guy de Pommerieux, possédé ensuite par la famille de Laval, puis par Bertrand du Guesclin par son mariage avec Jeanne de Laval en 1371. En 1575, le château passa ensuite dans la famille d'Aubigné qui fit transformer le château et édifier la chapelle. Le château, composé de trois corps de bâtiments, avec deux tours dont l'une remonte au 14e siècle, a été restauré au 19e siècle par Hodé. Le grand corps de logis est couronné d'un mâchicoulis avec échauguettes aux angles. L'ensemble présente de beaux détails sculptés de toutes époques.
