To make a day of it

Château de Montgey stands in Montgey (Tarn), in the Occitanie region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.

Perched on a rocky spur in the Lauragais region, the château de Montgey overlooks the plain between Toulouse and Revel, with views reaching as far as the Pyrenees. Occupied since Roman antiquity, the site became the stronghold of the Roquefort family in the 13th century, closely tied to the Albigensian Crusade and the battle that bears the village's name. The present building, a quadrangular structure flanked by four towers, took shape mainly in the 15th and 16th centuries, with further changes up to the 19th century. Notable features include an Italian-style gallery, a strongly defensive southeast tower, and a Renaissance fireplace in the style of the Fontainebleau school.
