To make a day of it

Château de Montferrand stands in Banassac-Canilhac (Lozère), in the Occitanie region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

Above the village of Montferrand, in the commune of Banassac-Canilhac, the ruins of an old castle overlook the Lot valley and the Booz reservoir. It once served as the seat of the lords of Montferrand, barons of Gévaudan who held sway over the road linking Gévaudan to Rouergue, and tradition places here the birth of Amphélise de Montferrand, mother of Pope Urban V. The site, now largely in ruins, is chiefly notable for the view it offers over the valley.
