At Montfavet, on the edge of Avignon, the Château de la Queyrelle is a country house built in the late 18th century for a silk merchant from Avignon. The plane-tree avenue leading to the property, the outbuildings and the ornamental garden form an ensemble typical of the country residences that once surrounded the city. The house also carries the memory of archaeologist Fernand Benoit, whose family acquired it in the late 19th century.
