In Montesquiou, in the Gers department, the ruins of the château de la Mothe stand on the site of a former feudal mound. What remains today is limited to a wide polygonal enclosure of thick walls and part of a square keep, the other half of which collapsed in 1879. Two doorways with flat stone lintels resting on corbels allow the structure to be dated to the 14th century.
