L'ancien château a dû être construit à l'emplacement d'une motte féodale. L'édifice se composait d'un grand polygone de murs très épais. A l'un des angles se trouvait le donjon de plan carré, dont la moitié s'est effondrée en 1879. Deux portes aux linteaux de pierre plate reposant sur une série de corbeaux, permettent de le dater du 14e siècle.
