Once a pleasure retreat linked to Countess Mahaut d'Artois, strengthened in the 15th century with a large wooded enclosure, then remodelled in the 18th century, it passed through several families before being largely demolished in 1964. Only the keep and the nearby outbuildings escaped destruction, saved at the last moment through their listing as a historic monument.
