In Bazouges-Cré-sur-Loir, in the Sarthe department, the château de la Barbée stands on the site of an earlier moated manor house, now gone. The present building dates from the late 18th century, built by the Fléchois architect Prosper Simon, then enlarged around 1824 by Abel Lahure and Adrien-Louis Lusson, who added two pavilion wings and a pediment topped with a large clock. The estate has remained with the La Bouillerie family since the 19th century and still includes its park, moats, chapel and orangery.
