To make a day of it
Château de Frauenberg stands in Frauenberg (Moselle), in the Grand Est region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 13th century, 14th century, 17th century, 18th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
The ruins of the Frauenberg castle stand above the village and the Blies valley, in the Moselle department, right on the border with Germany. First mentioned in 1370 as a watchtower, the building passed through many hands, from the lords of Sierck to the counts of Eberstein, before being damaged by fire on the eve of the French Revolution and then gradually stripped of its stones over the following century. What remains today, chiefly the keep, reinforced several times during the 20th century, reflects this turbulent history rather than an intact castle.
