Château de Couffoulens stands in Couffoulens (Aude), in the Occitanie region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 18th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
Built on a rocky spur overlooking the confluence of the Aude and Lauquet rivers, the château de Couffoulens stands on a site fortified since the Middle Ages, remodelled in the early 18th century. A square medieval tower and sections of older walls survive, absorbed into the U-shaped building that gives the château its present appearance. Visitors reach it via a spiralling ramp leading to two gateways framed by rusticated pillars and a wrought iron gate.
