To make a day of it

Château de Clavières stands in Ayrens (Cantal), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

The château de Clavières, in Ayrens in the Cantal department, survives today only as scattered ruins within an abandoned park with ponds and a stream running through it. Built in a neo-medieval troubadour style in the 19th century on the site of a 13th-century fortress destroyed in the 16th century, it was gutted by fire in 1936. The separate sale of the entrance pavilions later cut off access to the grounds, and the site remains closed to visitors.
