To make a day of it

Château de Cisery stands in Guillon-Terre-Plaine (Yonne), in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 13th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

At Cisery, in the Yonne department, stand the remains of a 14th century seigneurial castle, now part of a working farm. A main dwelling flanked by a round tower with a conical roof survives, along with a square tower at the opposite end that carried a drawbridge entrance and a projecting bretèche. The building combines local limestone with granite brought from the nearby Morvan region, and was once surrounded by wide water filled moats.
