To make a day of it

Château de Chiffrevast stands in Tamerville (Manche), in the Normandie region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 17th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

In Tamerville, in the Manche department, the Château de Chiffrevast stands on the site of a medieval stronghold of which nothing remains, the present house dating from the early 17th century. Its main block flanked by four projecting pavilions, its dry moat crossed by a stone bridge, and its pedimented dormer windows reflect the Louis XIII style as practised in the Cotentin region. On the façade, two sets of coats of arms recall the d'Anneville family, who owned the estate for several centuries. The surrounding English-style park, reshaped in the 19th century, is listed in the preliminary inventory of notable gardens.
