To make a day of it

Château de Chevry-en-Sereine stands in Chevry-en-Sereine (Seine-et-Marne), in the Île-de-France region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: first quarter of the 17th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

Standing in the countryside of Seine-et-Marne, this brick and sandstone château dates from the reign of Louis XIII, built around 1633 for Charles Duret, comptroller general of Finances. A rectangular main building flanked by two corner pavilions overlooks a courtyard of honour bordered by dry moats, crossed by two stone bridges. The surrounding park bears the hallmark of a formal French design attributed to Le Nôtre. The estate remains privately owned, today linked to the Laubespin family.
