To make a day of it

Château de Chennebrun stands in Chennebrun (Eure), in the Normandie region of France. The building is registered as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 18th century). The building is privately owned and no visits are on record.

In the Normandy Perche, Chennebrun castle stands on a hillside above the Avre valley, on the site of a medieval stronghold that once marked the border between Normandy and the kingdom of France. The present building, erected around 1750-1765 for Madame de Laval-Montmorency, rests on vaulted cellars dating from the 14th and 15th centuries. Its brick and rubble-stone facades, a round dovecote, a steward's house and a 19th-century greenhouse sit within a wooded park where towers and sections of the medieval enclosure still remain.
