Tubœuf castle stands in Saint-Michel-Tubœuf, in the Orne department, on the site of a medieval stronghold that played a part in the Hundred Years' War. The present building, raised around 1640 for Jean Courtin, combines stone and pink brick in a classical style that was never completed, as the right wing was never built. A 15th century ogee-arched window survives, reused in the east tower from the earlier medieval castle. A private property, it is best appreciated from the outside, with its courtyard of honour, dry moat and 17th century orangery.
