Une famille De Brans est attestée au 12e siècle. L'ancien château aurait été établi au lieu-dit Le Chatelot. Situé à proximité, l'édifice actuel, de plan en U, présentait une forme encore médiévale avec fossés et échauguettes. Au 18e siècle, ouverture de baies extérieures et suppression de la porte d'entrée avec pont-levis. A la fin du 19e siècle, le château est doté d'une tour et de décors intérieurs (deux salles néo-gothiques).
