The château de Bourron stands in Bourron-Marlotte, on the edge of the Fontainebleau forest, on the site of a medieval stronghold whose lords are recorded from the twelfth century onward. The present building, raised in the early seventeenth century in the brick and stone style associated with Fontainebleau, retains water-filled moats, a main courtyard and interior woodwork from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Set within a forty-hectare park adjoining the forest, it remains privately owned and now operates as a hotel.
