What the French Ministry of Culture records

Ancienne résidence des abbés de Saint-Martial de Limoges jusqu'à la Révolution. Trois châteaux se sont succédés, au 11e, 15e et 18e siècle. Cette construction réalisée par l'architecte Joseph Brousseau en 1765-1768 remplace l'édifice du 15e siècle dont ne subsistent qu'une cheminée dans les communs et des tronçons de douves. Edifice de plan centré rectangulair dont l'espace s'organise autour d'un axe constitué par le grand salon et la salle à manger. La façade nord présente un avant-corps central en léger décrochement abritant l'entrée de la salle à manger. La façade sud présente également un avant-corps central mais en forte saillie, encadrant l'entrée du grand salon.
