Authon Castle stands in Authon-Ébéon, in the Charente-Maritime region, on a site held by the Authon family since the Middle Ages. Surrounded by moats fed by the Dandelot stream, the estate still has a 16th-century guard tower and structures altered in the 17th century, before a fire in 1791 and works at the end of the 19th century gave it its present appearance. The grounds, redesigned in English style around 1875-1878, surround a moated esplanade planted with exotic trees.
