To make a day of it

Château Claeys stands in Villeneuve-d'Ascq (Nord), in the Hauts-de-France region of France. No visits are on record for this building.

In Villeneuve-d'Ascq, in what was once the village of Ascq, Claeys castle stands on the site of an older residence, of which a gateway dated 1768 still remains. The building seen today dates from 1925, designed by architect Louis Mollet for owner Charles Claeys, who gave it his name. Bought by the town in 1981 to save it from a housing development project, it now houses a community centre and a park with goats, sheep and farmyard animals.
