On the northern edge of Aix-en-Provence, the Mignarde is a Provençal bastide built around 1670, remarkable for its scale with a facade pierced by twenty-seven windows. Its history spans several centuries and notable figures, from the confectioner Gabriel Mignard to Pauline Bonaparte, sister of Napoleon I, who stayed here in the early nineteenth century. Visitors can now see a terraced French-style garden adorned with statues, basins and an orangery, still owned by the same family for nearly two hundred years.
