To make a day of it
Manoir de la Saucerie stands in Domfront en Poiraie (Orne), in the Normandie region of France. The building is listed as a historic monument (dating recorded in the Mérimée database: 14th century, 17th century). Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
At Domfront en Poiraie, beside the Égrenne river, the manoir de la Saucerie survives today only as its gatehouse, the last remnant of a once extensive fortified complex whose main residence was destroyed by fire in the 19th century. Two stout round towers pierced with gunloops flank an almost square central block, topped with timber framed upper floors and dome shaped roofs crowned by a small turret, a mix of medieval defence and Norman fancy from the 16th and 17th centuries. The moat still surrounds the building, along with traces of the drawbridge that once guarded its entrance.
