To make a day of it
Schloss Spremberg stands in Spremberg (Landkreis Spree-Neiße), in Brandenburg, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. Its opening hours and prices have not been verified at the source yet.
The Schloss Spremberg stands on the site of the town's oldest structure, originally an 11th century Romanesque moated castle later rebuilt into an early Baroque residence under the dukes of Sachsen-Merseburg, notably Duke Heinrich. After the ducal line died out and the estate passed to Electoral Saxony in 1738, the building served administrative purposes until 1997. It now houses the Niederlausitzer Heidemuseum, a music and arts school, and the district library. The surrounding park contains an authentic Sorbian farmstead and a lapidary garden with fragments salvaged from villages lost to lignite mining.
