To make a day of it

Schloss Schwaben stands in Markt Schwaben (Landkreis Ebersberg), in Bavaria, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.

Schloss Schwaben, in Markt Schwaben within the Landkreis Ebersberg in Bavaria, survives today only as a fragment of a once much larger noble residence, now built into the town's municipal hall. A fortress first stood on the site from 1283, raised by Duke Ludwig der Strenge, before being rebuilt as a four-winged Schloss under Elector Maximilian I and completed in 1659 by his widow Maria Anna. Only the south wing remains, reworked in neo-Gothic style in the nineteenth century, and it now houses, among other things, the local library. Excavations carried out in 2021 in front of the town hall uncovered the foundations of the former keep and traces of the medieval moat.
