To make a day of it

Schloss Rantzau stands in Lübecker Altstadt (Lübeck), in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. The building is a listed Baudenkmal. No visits are on record for this building.

Schloss Rantzau stands in Lübeck's cathedral district, on the site of a medieval canon's residence, the last survivor of thirteen such houses once owned by the cathedral chapter. Behind a neo-Gothic facade commissioned in the 19th century by Count Kuno zu Rantzau-Breitenburg, the building still holds much older features: Gothic vaulting in the cellar, carved and heraldic wood panelling dated 1586, painted ceiling beams and Baroque door surrounds. Its rococo hall, with stuccowork attributed to Johann Nepomuk Metz, ranks among the city's notable historic interiors.
